I think you are jumping the gun. There are no trustworthy foundations for the federation (like the name discussion shows). Before activity there has to be a solid foundation for it. Ranking system, rules etc.

It's uderstandable to be eager to do things, but maybe there is not such a hurry to have tournaments.

I think it would be wise to learn a bit from the american way of Subbuteo. The european FISTF is not the answer to everything. People should learn this lession very quick before it is too late scratch

At the end, what do we want? To play or to discuss with Eurosport?

You're right. That's why I told people who "want to hold tournaments" that till next season, only the "open category" is possible and small events (regional & national) so that people can feel "part of it". Being part of the movement is just what people want. The rest will happen if it has to happen... or as Luis said, we need to be patient and wait the next FISTF elections Very Happy

I think you need activity before a solid foundation.
Each subbuteo tournement or demo that is NOT FISTF related is a good thing at the moment.

I can't agree more. FISTF is not everything and people should enjoy playing even if they don't get FISTF world ranking points.

Holding non-FISTF tournaments is not a problem. It's only a good thing to have activity. Doing it in the name of something which in fact does not have a name or foundation yet, is a bit more problematic.

I'd just hold the tournaments, and not use the name WASPA yet. I'd only promote the idea with the tournaments.

But it's just my view, and I'm not saying it is the only way.

Playing, and having fun playing, should be the main thing, of course. For most players the world ranking is not the reason to participate.

Uuuuh, carefully. I don´t think it is so. World Ranking are a motivation factor. I know a lot of players who have the aim to reach better places in WR.

Over 50% of the players? I have my doubts. Just look at the italians the americans, people from smaller countries. And this includes all those who don't play FISTF at all.

I know that ranking is important for many, but I have the impression (not a fact) that most players just want to play good tournaments. I believe that national ranking is important for a higher percentage of players if you ask people.

I also meant that WR is not the reason to participate. It's one of the reasons maybe, but not the most important factor.

Also if you think that I've been just outside 100 at best (I think), and have played very small amount of tournaments, you see that ranking outside top 100 is not very important. If people behind me really were interested in ranking positions, they would only need to play a little more. It's hard to see it any other way.

I agree with you ! I never had a look to rankings, since years ... I'm sorry for the people who spent so much energy to collect results and calculate points but I don't see the importance to be n° 43 or 188 or 765 ... I understand the one who's near the first position, so he can tell it to his friend, children, wife ... "I'm a champion !!! ".
But at the end is champion of what ? a group of 200 players who are playing all the european tournaments and that they think they are "the world". Don't forget that in one day, more than 3000 persons can enter in a supermarket for shopping, and there are not "the world" !!!
I hope rankings will desapear one day !
What is important is to play a good tournament, with the goal to win it, to play with a fair-play spirit and to see a lot of friends who have the same passion !!!

Good luck for the tournament even if there will be a low turnout.

You are right if you are talking about the individual ranking. most players are not interested in their individual ranking.
In case of team ranking it is totally different. that's the reason, why I'm a kind of upset that the team ranking won't be used for the FISTF EC anymore.
Most players take the points in individual only by travelling with their clubs. We will see if the clubs will loose the motivation to travel to FISTF events in the future, if so the number in the individual events will go down for sure too.

Good point, Heinz. Didn't think about that, because we don't organise FISTF team events in Finland. So my knowledge of that influence is minimal. And yes, I meant individual ranking.
