Post  Admin on Fri Aug 20, 2010 6:41 pm

CIRCULAR0035 20th August 2010
To: All Presidents
All National Federations
Dear Friends,
Palermo 2011 & Athens 2012
In January 2010, this Board adhered to the decision that Rain (Germany) will host the World Cup 2010.
Meanwhile, we also agreed to issue a call for applications for the hosting of the next World Cups.
I am pleased to inform you that the conclusion of the applications submitted to this Board for a decision
are as follows:
1. World Cup 2011 will be hosted in Palermo (Sicily – Italy)
2. World Cup 2012 will be hosted in Athens (Greece)
While hoping all the best to the organisers, we hope to see you all in these events.
Truly in Sports
Silvio Catania

Which other cities are candidates for both W.C.?
When BoD call for applications because i didn't find circular for this?
Why BoD decide for W.C. 2012 but no decide yet for champion and europa league 2011. I think that first taking decisions for 2011 tournaments and after for 2012...

Sicily is very very far away by president's home. I remember Rome as candidate by italy but change because...
Athens is the city of other Dalton brother (Averel).

no more comments.

How does a provisional board that is active for about 8 months have the power to decide the place of a WC let alone TWO World Cups?

And how professional is it to let the federations have no more than 1 (one!) month of time to decide if they have the possibilities to organize AND to make a proper application?

Circular: "In January 2010, this Board adhered to the decision that Rain (Germany) will host the World Cup 2010."

And for this reason (adhering to the decision taken by a legally, according to statutes, elected board) the provisional board thinks it's ok to decide on two World Cups...

Circular: "Meanwhile, we also agreed to issue a call for applications for the hosting of the next World Cups."

To "issue a call for applications" doesn't mean deciding, if I'm not badly mistaken. I also don't remember this sort of thing being on the agenda for the January meeting, and don't remember a possibility to vote by email on this subject. Thus it seems again to be an invalid decision.

Finally (although Kechris already said enough about the cities), it's interesting that Palermo is a central and big (yes by population, no by any other standards) place where it's easy and cheap to travel to, and excellent to promote the game in. These have been some of the arguments against Rain.

Another thing to discuss in September. I would suggest a longer meeting because this mess takes more than two hours to sort out...

Do you see circular 36? New effort for president to keep his chair.

I can't find circular 35 in FISTF's site. Maybe is top secret!

Thomas, i am by southern Europe and i think that is big mistake to split the persons for their nationality.
There are bad guys full of complex in South and in North Europe. Simply, now all those persons taking decisions for their country because they want to prove to their countryman that they care for them.

South and North Europe have different culture but in table soccer we need both of them.

Strange things are happening.

I just visited the Italian forum where the news of Palermo seem to have been a shock for many. The World Cup for 2011 was already given to Rome and is also in the official Circular 27 signed by Catania.

It seems that Rome had made an application already in the December last year as the last date to send application was the end of last year. So where did this application time of June come from, when everything was already decided. And the Romans (including influential Antonello Rodriguez) have not said that they don't want to organize.

Here is the link to the discussion (in the first page there is also the circular 27):

Fiumicino got from the former FISTF BoD the preference to be first choice for the World Cup 2011. It is well-known, also for the provisional BoD. I don´t know what the italians discuss in there own language. Only if Fiumicino give back the preference a call out for a selection process could be happen and normaly a congress decides about the places for 2011 and 2012 (except of cancellations like Odense 2010).

From a different topic:

I'm curious about some things:

-Why didn't you select Palermo in the first place? Roma was selected first.

-Why weren't the Romans informed in time, so that they could make similar arrangements?

-Romans had already made arrangements. Is it fair for them, that it was for nothing?

-What are the exact reasons that make Palermo better than Roma?

You can have a board 100% behind something, but does the board have everyone's respect if they make a switch like this. And do you think that the board would consist of these people, if the members who voted them would know about this decision before.

You of course don't have to answer these, but those questions are interesting.

That goes a bit too far in my opinion.
The italian federation applied for the WC 2011 and they can decide where the WC will take place. If they change the city it is also their decision and if you didn't book anything for Rome already, i don't think you can complain about that.
If the people in Rome already prepared things, they have to deal with the italian federation. It is an internal thing. I don't think we are authorised to do that.

It's easy to speak in a forum.

Spain will not organize any major manifestation fistf (world cup or league champions league or Europe) in 2011.
Maybe (and if the agreement works well) we could candidly to a europe league at the stadium of Atletico de Madrid in 2012.
I remember Thomas Vulpes nice that Spain does not organize a World Cup since 1982 ...... ... and Germany (which has fewer players than Spain), two in four years ... so please stop mourn thanks.

With the culture of critique only by criticizing what others are doing we will not grow much.

A little less than proclamations in the forum, and a little more promotion. This is what we need.

Piero

I know it's an internal thing. But I said it's interesting, and that I'm curious.

Also this is an open forum, so isn't there a possibility to wonder or ask questions here even about internal decisions?

If a decision is done taking all into consideration, and with clear conscience, those questions I asked are answered without any problems.

As you probably have noticed already, I don't like people treated differently. I also don't like injustice and I am also a great fan of fair play also at the tables. So I ask questions when I think something isn't clear. If this decision is clear, I don't see any problems in my post.

I have nothing against Palermo. But the process sounded strange to me.

And to underline my basic view on things, I have to say that also on this forum I have said before that every players needs should be thought of equally. No matter which country or which level.

Also if the decision of the location is always internal matter, then why all the critique for the german federation about Rain?

Forums are places where the reality is exposed to everyone. it's very far away of all the hipocrisy and the lies seen during the world cup in Rain.
